University
The University neighbourhood is situated to the western edge of Vancouver, fringed by shoreline and forest, and anchored by its namesake, the University of British Columbia. This Vancouver Westside neighbourhood has a diverse range of housing options with a recent shift towards building more condos and townhomes to adapt to the changing demographic needs. However, this neighbourhood still has some of the most expensive and prestigious real estate in the Metro Vancouver area - with some houses having only a few peers in North America!
True to its name, the neighbourhood is saturated with schooling options all the way from University Hill Elementary (in a catchment area) up to University Hill Secondary School. There are also two private schools in the area, St. George’s School and Westside Christian School. Finally, the academic crown jewel of the neighbourhood is the 400-hectare Vancouver campus of the University of British Columbia.
Finally, the University neighbourhood also benefits from UBC being the busiest transit destination in Metro Vancouver by making access to the rest of Vancouver so much easier. As growing momentum continues for building the UBC Extension of the Broadway Subway Plan, transit for the University neighbourhood can only continue to improve.
