Shaughnessy
For decades, Shaughnessy has been best known for its prestigious and historic character homes. This peaceful, elegant neighbourhood situated in the middle of Vancouver West has many notable features such as well-regarded schools, beautiful parks and enriching recreational facilities. There are many private schools in this neighbourhood, such as Granville House or Vancouver College. In addition to private schools, there are notable public schools as well, such as Shaughnessy Elementary and Prince of Wales Secondary School.
Close to the neighbourhood’s eastern edge is Queen Elizabeth Park, a famous regional park containing sport courts, a botanical garden, restaurant and a world-class conservatory with an indoor aviary. Similarly, to the south is VanDusen Botanical Garden, which puts on seasonal events for Halloween and Christmas ensuring the Garden is a draw all-year-round beyond spring and summer blooms. Finally, just west of the neighbourhood is The Arbutus Club, a private country club boasting numerous sports and recreational facilities, programs and fine dining.
